Receiving the award for the “Outstanding Farmer under 30” was Robert Tercha, R 2 Mertztown. Tercha farms 400 acres in part nership with his father. A majority of corn is grown and cash cropped along with some alfalfa. The “Outstanding Farmer over 30” was Lester Burkholder, R 4 Fleetwood, who with his wife, one son and two daughters farm 220 acres of corn and alfalfa and milk 90 Holsteins with 85 replacements. The Community Service Award was presented by Dave Bitler, YFA Reporter, to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dreibelbis, Shoemaker sville. Dreibelbis is very active in community affairs, serves on three committees for the Pennsylvania Farmers Association, is a member of the National and state Guernsey Breeders Associations and farms 200 acres and owns 80 head of Registered Guernseys. Students who are pursuing careers in agriculture and persons who have supported the agriculture programs the past year will be honored.
