C2—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, January 15,1983 BY DICK ANGLEBTEIN FARM SHOW - There were literally twin first-timers in the grand champion winner’s circle in the Belgian competition - the largest equine event at this year’s Farm Show. The literal look-alikes were Alfred and Arthur Heist, of Eden Road, Lancaster, who exhibited the grand champion and senior champion mare - a Larry B. Omdorff product in the three-year old class. The Lancaster twins also had the top Belgian stallion foal that went on to capture the reserve grand and reserve junior champion honors. It too was out of the Om dorff stable. The other first-time winner in the grand champion Belgian winner’s circle was the Lewis G. Biddle family, of Boalsburg, who showed the grand champion stallion that was also the junior champion. The Biddles also had the reserve grand and reserve senior mare champion. The Reists, who have shown for Omdorff for the past five years and for other Belgian breeders throughout the country, have had BELGIAN Stallion. 5 Yrt Older 1 MesserschmidttSon,Myerslown Stalbon,2YrTo3 1 Lewis Biddle. They tried in the past to buy her but Omdorff sold her first to Jack and Gary Hale of Illinois, professional showers. The Reists acquired Pinky about six months ago from them. Pinky is now in foal and is due about the end of February. Her mother was champion at the Farm Show for six times so it appears that she will be able to transmit champion’s blood in the developing Heist stable. The Oak Hall Farm of the Bid dies has been showing in Harrisburg for the past four years and their “Smithside Master Dumarais” was the first grand champion. Among the Percherons, Betty Gilliland of Linden Hall had the grand champion mare and Gerald Allebach of Madisonburg had the top stallion. In Clydesdale mares, James and Dail Corl, State College, exhibited the grand champion mare. There were no stallions entered.
