To meet the needs of individual producers, ASC committee members must be concerned and responsible individuals, Lutz said. “Berks County farmers have the opportunity to nominate persons they feel wouM best serve the farm Nat’l Grange convention Nov. 8-14 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Agr culture, conservation, taxation, social security, education and transportation will be primary targets of discussion at the 116th annual session of the National Grange, Nov. 8 -14 in Providence, Rhode Island. Delegates from 37 states will convene at the Biltmore Plaza Hotel for a week of reviewing over 500 resolutions. Delegate action will determine the Grange’s national legislative policies and programs. All of the resolutions originate at the grass roots level in the local Grange chapter. Edward Anderson, Master of the National Grange, said the Grange is one of the few remaining community. Farmers have received petition forms by mail and are now submitting them to the county ASCS office,’ ’ he said. “A few basic considerations should be kept in mind when cir culating petitions,” Lutz added. In orrfpr to bp valid, petitions must be organizations in the country whose legislative policies are directly from the local membership. The Grange is the country’s oldest and second largest farm organization. It has 425,000 members and 5,000 local chapters. Anderson said he anticipates a great deal of discussion on dairy programs, wheat and feed grain programs, Farmers Home Ad ministration loan programs and export sales of agricultural products. He said the effects of the Administration’s new Federalism proposals on agriculture, tran sportation, education and welfare will be of concern to the farm leaders.
