Cathy Wapmarek was taken by surprise when she and her family received an invitation to spend a western-style roundup weekend at the Bob Evans farm in Ohio. They brought along a horse trailer, and came home with a frisky lilly, Sam’s Nitty Pep. Although Cathy has taken riding lessons and participated in the 4-H horse project, she has never owned a horse. Fortunately her father, John Wapmarek, had just built a barn to house his other daughter’s 4-H sheep project. Animal lovers all, the Wap mareks also raise dogs, cats, rabbits, bees, and pigeons. The rabbits and bees are also Cathv’s 4- H projects. The pigeons belong to Evans horse her younger brother, who is not yet old enough for 4-H. The Wapmareks don’t actually live on a farm, although their home stands on a large wooded lot ad joining Cathy’s grandmother’s farmland. John Wapmarek's current building project is a corral for Nifty.
