LANCASTER “We thought
there was a real demand for good
working cattle in state herds,”
explained State Grange Master
Charles Wismer at the start of the
Grange’s first Bred Heifer Sale.
Wismer characterized the en
deavor as “not a big production
sale and not a dealer sale,” but a
chance for farmers to buy some
above average cattle and a chance
for others to sell off some surplus.
The idea for the sale, said
Wismer, was conceived last fall
and Grange members canvassed
the state for selections as early as
May of ’B2.
“We’ve had great response and
cooperation from members. I feel
Ida Jane and Leroy Plance flank their recent Grange
purchase, Ker-Min Fury Teresa. The 6-year-old Hosltien bred
to Char Sam Elevation Pabst topped the sale with a $2,225
bid. Don Trimble is at halter.
