Kurt is the son of Harvey and Delphine Brown. Capturing the pink rosette for Kurt was Admiral Holloway Mindy, a Sleepy-Hollow Kennedy daughter out of Admiral Vevation Marty. Mindy’s stableinate and half-sister claimed another championship for the Brown family, being tagged junior champion of both the open and youth shows. Older brother Kyle Brown is the proud owner of this year’s Gratz Fair junior champion. Judge Trostle gave the double honors to the first-place senior yearling, S H Citation Amanda. This fancy heifer is out of one of Kyle’s cows, Admiral Citation Marge. Kurt Brown made his ap pearance in the winner’s circle of the youth show earlier in the day by exhibiting the reserve junior champion, his first-place yearling, Mindy. The reserve junior champion of the open show went to Kermit Kahier of Pitman and his junior yearling, Maggie, a Jetstream daughter. According to Kahler’s son Ryan, this is the first cham pionship ribbon the family has won with their black and whites, recently added to the 75-head Guernsey herd. Dairy cattle weren’t the only livestock exhibited by Kyle Brown on Tuesday. Earlier in the mor ning, the young showman captured both grand championship ribbons in the Dorset breeding sheep competition. Judge Trostle gave Kyle’s yearling ram and yearling ewe the official nod. The Triple K ram champion is sired by a Clearview Acres ram out of a Sevick ewe. The Triple K ewe champion is sired by Everett out of a Crommelin ewe. Kyle, who has been in the purebred Dorset business for the past three years, purchased his champion ewe’s dam at the 1979 Keystone International Livestock Exposition’s bred ewe sale.
