John Troxell ot Middleburg accepted the Reserve Junior ribbon for his intermediate calf Crystal View Delegate Catie. in black and white competition, Carol Dum of Elliottsburg posted a Md. farm under observation due to rabid skunk ANNAPOLIS The Maryland Department of Agriculture’s Animal Health Section has placed the livestock on an Allegany County farm in the Cumberland area under observation for a period of 30 days following the owner’s discovery last week of a skunk in a pen with several feeder pigs. The skunk was killed and sub mitted to the Maryland Depart ment of Health and Mental Hygiene laboratory and found infected with rabies. It is not known if any of the farm animals were bitten by the rabid skunk. There has been an increasing incidence of rabies in the Allegany County area of Maryland during the past year, according to MDA.
