BY PATTY GROSS Stall Correspondent HUNTINGDON - This year’s major attraction at the Huntingdon County Fair was the 1982 Central Regional Championship Holstein Show. One hundred sixty outstanding Holsteins from Huntingdon, Bedford, Blair, Centre, Clearfield, Somerset, Cambria and Mifflin counties were exhibited at the fairgrounds, After 4M: hours of tough com petition, the show concluded with a Bedford County-bred blacK and white being named Grand Champion Female. Judge Paul King of Delta gave the winning nod to the 4-year-old Holstein, Singing Sharon and Paul Fox of Somerset County exhibited the Reserve Junior Champion at the Central Region Cham pionship Holstein Show in Huntingdon. Right, is Mike Weimer of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association. Singing Brook Farms’ entries sweep Central Championship Brook Astro Fatty, owned by Obie Snider of Imler. The champion is sired by Paclamar Astronaut and out of Singing Brook ML Peter. The top Holstein from Singing Brook Farms also Captured honors for Senior Champion, Best Udder of Show, and Best Female Bred and Owned by Exhibitor. The champion was just one of a host of Singing Brook Farm Holsteins that helped the Snider family claim the. banners of Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder. The Bedford County breeder’s entries also placed over the other competition and won Best Three Females and Produce of Dam. Those awards were in addition to the five first-place honors presented during the competition. A junior yearling heifer, exhibited by Obie Snider, started off his award-filled night by being picked as the junior champion. Golden-Circle Fete Monica, owned by Paul and Sharon Fox of Somerset County, took the reserve junior champion. The senior heifer is sired by Straight Fine Elevation Singing Brook Farms and Mowry Farms, both of Bedford County, were together several times in the winner’s circle at the Central Pennsylvania Holstein Show in Huntingdon. They captured first-place honors, Best Udder and Production Winner in many of the classes. Ken and Steve Mowry’s aged cow, Bel-Aura Happy Elm Tree, stood at the top of her class and second to Singing Brook Farms' senior champion. The grand champion at the recent Morrisons Cove Dairy Show Happy claimed the reserve grand champion female rosette in the Central show. She is sired by Harborcrest Happy Crusader out of Bel-Aura Clarity Destry. Leading off the evening com- Grand Champion and Steve Mowry’s Bel-Aura Happy Elm Tree for Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion.
