Close behind Mowry’s during the Holstein event was Burket Falls Farm, East Freedom, which had dominated much of the com petition till that point. Burket Falls Shalena View captured the Judge’s eye for the Reserve Senior Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. The Burkets were also awarded premier breeder, premier exhibitor, senior get-of-sire, produce of dam, exhibitors herd a best three females. The entry by Luke Bowser, R 1 New Enterprise, Singing-Brook Pete Billie A, took the Junior Champion in the Holstein open show. Alienor Holstein Farms, R 4 Bedford, came in close behind with the Reserve Champion. In the open colored breed show, John Burket of R 1 East Freedom showed two other winners. His Brown Swiss and Jersey walked out of the show ring with grand champion ribbons. He previously exhibited a grand champion Holstein in the 4-H show. The winner’s circle was a popular place for Beth Clark of R 2 Bedford. As a winning 4-H exhibitor earlier in the week, she won again in the open Guernsey class. She was awarded the grand champion ribbons both times. Winning looked easy for Rob and Sharon Nolan, Cochranville, and their five-year-old Ayrshire. The Grand Champion and Senior Champion honors were awarded to them during the open show. William Henley, Cochranville, who showed the Grand Champion in that breed during the FFA competition, won the Reserve Grand Champion Ayrshire title of the open class.
