B34—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 7,1982 LEBANON The Lebanon Fan will open its doors to the public beginning Monday, August 9 at the Lebanon County Fairgrounds on Cornwall Road. The public is in vited to tour some of the finest agriculture exhibits in the county right up until closing day, Satur day August 14. Opening each day at 10 a.m. and closing at 10 p.m., the annual fair will feature music, livestock and dairy shows, tractor pulls, auc tions and much more. Admission fees are $1 for folks over 12 and (1 for parking. Everyone will be admitted free on Thursday, August 12. Dairy goats will kick off the judging festivities on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Beginning Tuesday at 9 Tom Arnold, Lebanon, exhibited his 245 pound crossbred gilt to grand championship of last year's Lebanon Fair livestock show. Arnold's hog brought a record price of $7 a pound and was purchased by Newswanger’s Lunch, Newmanstown. Lebanon Fair offers 6 nights of family fim a.m., more than 280 dairy cows and heifers will make their tanbark appearance. And at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, livestock judging will begin. Wednesday marks the beginning of the swine classes and market animal classes beginning at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m. 4-H and FFA members will compete in a dairy judging contest. Later at 1:30 p.m., the youngsters will parade their market steers and beef breeding animal in the fairground show ring. More 4-H and FFA com petition continues at 5:30 p.m. with sheep judging. On Friday, county youth will vie for showmanship and fitting titles at 9 a.m. And on Saturday, area buyers will bid for top- market Lebanon Fair highlights animals during the 4-H and FFA swine, lamb and steer sale, beginning at 1 p.m. This year, the fair will feature a 4-H auction on Thursday, that includes brand new appliances. For the tractor and automobile enthusiasts, the 1982 fair offers four exciting nights of competition. Monday evening features the county tractor pull. On Thursday night, the smaller tractors take to the field with the lawn and garden tractor pull contest. The state tractor pull competition on Friday night will offer some of the com monwealth's best tractor operators. And last day festivities are capped with ah exciting demolition derby, Saturday evening. Fun-seekers can have then evening on Tuesday evening with the popular Farmers’ Fun night. This annual event will include a new competition a tug of war which will feature eight county teams.
