B2o—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 24,1982 Sullivan youth wins safely award Jf^fk UNIVERSITY PARK - Susan Weisbrod, 17, of Rl, Lopez, has compiled an outstanding record in 4-H work and was named state safety winner in the National Awards Program. Susan will receive an expense paid trip to the National 4-H Congress. Support of the safety program is provided by General Motors Foundation, Inc. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene W. Weisbrod, Susan will be a senior this fall at Sullivan County High School. She has been a 4-H member for nine years. A member of the Riflests 4-H Club and the Krazy Krafters 4-H Club, she has served as vice president, secretary, treasurer, and teen leader. Susan has completed 4-H projects in nflery, crafts, and safety. Locally, she has taken part in day camp, round-up, demon strations, a leader’s dinner, teen retreat, and local government seminar. The state safety winner also has participated in state nfle team Thomasville 4-H meets THOMASVILLE - The Thomasville 4-H Club met recently for a baseball game with the Loganville Club. Named were Susan Norman, 18, of Rl, Liberty, state winner in home management; Glen Butters, 19, of Rl, Morris, winner in the photography category; and Denise Simpson, 18, of R 2, Lawrenceville, state citizenship winner. All three will receive expense paid trips to National 4-H Congress. A member of the Liberty Community 4-H Club, he has served as co-president, news reporter, game leader, and teen leader. Glen also served as president and vice president of Tioga County 4-H Council. The photography state winner completed 4-H projects m dairy, foods, field crops, photography, leadership, vegetable gardening, handyman, and teen leadership. Denise Simpson The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Simpson, Denise will be a freshman this fall at Susquehanna University, majoring in music education. She has been a 4-H member for eight years. A member of the Ever-Greens 4- H Club, she has served as vice president, treasurer, news reporter, game and song leader, and advisory board representative on Tioga County 4-H Council. Denise has completed 4-H projects in sewing, cooking, flower and vegetable gardening, en tomology, citizenship, health, careers, embroidery, and knitting. Locally, she has participated in 4-H exchange programs, day camp, dress revue, county round up, and county demonstrations.
