B32—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, June 5,1982 By Laurie Dobrosky YORK Wayne Stough, Jr. of Spring Grove exhibited his March Simmental heifer to the coveted position of Supreme Champion Heifer at the Third Annual York County 4-H Beef Preview Show held at the York Fairgrounds last Saturday. Stough, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stough, Sr., won the title of champion Simmental with his heifer, Linoeon Miss Signal 449 N, before being named overall champion. The reserve champion Sim mental was shown by Jessica Ferree of Spring Grove. The champion and reserve champion Angus heifers were exhibited by Chris and Cathy Shive of Seven Valleys, respectively. The champion Charolais heifer was exhibited by John Eaton of Wind sor Kern Kohr of York and Jamie Kohr also of York, exhibited the champion and reserve champion Chianina heifers, respectively. The champion Hereford heifer was exhibited by John Hausner of Dover The reserve champion was exhibited by Sonja Shearer of Abbottstown. The champion Bred and Owned Heifer honors went to Tun Kinsley of York and his March Angus heifer, SBF Burgess 137. Tun, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kin sley, also exhibited the grand champion steer. He showed his 925 pound purebred Angus to its breed championship before being selected by Judge Cheryl Moran, Chester Co. Extension agent, as the grand champion. Annette Walter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Walter, Air ville, exhibited the reserve grand champion steer. Her Angus- Sunmental crossbred was selected as the Crossbred Champion. Wolf; An nette Walter of Airville exhibited both the champion Simmental and the champion crossbred steer; reserve champion Simmental, exhibited by Jenny Druck of York; reserve champion crossbred, shown by Bob Livingston of Dover. In addition to the steer and heifer classes, a showmanship contest also was held. The top Junior division showman was Cathy Shive of Seven Valleys, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Gordon Shive Julie Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Myers, Wellsville, was the champion Intermediate Showman. The Senior champion was Bob Livingston, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Livingston of Dover. The York County Preview show was started three years ago in order to give the club members more experience in showing and halter-breaking their animals.
