Munkittrick, State Con
servationist, USDA Soil Con
servation Service. As of Jan. 15,
approximately 2,000 have been
returned.
Block’s program, called the
“Preferred Program,” offers
several new approaches for easing
the Nation’s soil and water
problems. Two key factors are
concentrating funds and USDA
personnel in areas with the
greatest soil losses. Another
section introduces a block grant
program of matching funds for
states to correct their erosion
problems. Funding for both
proposals would come from
existing USDA soil conservation
programs, reports the SCS
spokesman.
A total of 20 different ideas are
contained in the response form to
which the public may voice a
strongly support to a strongly
oppose vote.
