According to Peter Ferretti, Extension vegetable crops specialist at Penn State, 19 state, 13 out-of-state, and two Canadian authorities in various fields will be presenting up-to-date details on numerous subjects that are of major importance to Com monwealth vegetable and small fruitgrowers. The conference is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Vegetable Growers Association, Penn State College of Agriculture, and Penn sylvania Food Processors Association, in cooperation, with the State Horticultural Association of Pennsylvania. The January 26 morning session has been set aside for those in terested iin tomato production. Topics to be covered include new fresh market varieties; disease resistance to Eastern processing tomato varieties; effective early blight control; gel seeding; ban ding fertilizers; and controlling the Coloradojiotato beetle. The Tomato Awards Luncheon will be held at noon on January 26. At the luncheon, the top winners in the 1981 Tomato Growers Contest will be honored. The Tuesday afternoon program, a joint session with the State Horticultural Association and fruit growers of Maryland and New Jersey, will focus on financial management, weather, ' and energy.
