FFA’ers KANSAS CITY, MO. - Twenty one members of the Future Far mers of America from Penn sylvania were awarded the American Farmer Degree, the highest in FFA, at the 54th National FFA Convention in Kansas City, Mo. last week. Day Hoff FFA members, parents and guests attended the Stars Over America Pageant at which 779 young agriculturists received the American Degree. Receiving the coveted golden key and certificate, the American Farmers represent the fmest of the nearly half-million FFA members in 8,313 chapters across the nation. The achievement also represents some su or seven years of work through chapter and state programs to reach the highest degree level. Following the ceremony, the members heard an address by Leon S. Dell Jay W. Gainer Daniel Hershberger Alan Hostetter receive American De farm broadcaster Orion Samuelson. The American Farmer program is sponsored through the National FFA Foundation by J.I. Case, Federal Land Banks, the Chevrolet Division of General Motors, Pioneer Hi-Bred International and Production Credit Associations. Heading the Commonwealth contingent of American Farmers was David Wenger, of Myerstown and the ELCO Chapter, who was a finalist in the Star Agribusinessman of America competition. Previously an Eastern Region winner, Kirk topped other regional competitors at the convention. He also fills custom freezer orders, processing, cutting, wrapping and freezing according to individual customer specifications. His future plans call for becoming a partner in the family operation.
