*l2—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, Novtmbtr 14,1311 “Mom, how old do you have to be to have stories?” The “stories” referred to by our junior fanner are those classic tales told by every adult at some time or another. Generally they have to do with something that happened to the adult when they were a child, or at least earlier in their adult years One of the men here at the farm is an expert tale-teller, with a story for every occasion. I tlunk our youngest member was seeking a “story” of his own to tell back the next time he happened to be in the role of listener. He didn’t have long to wait. For from one of the most likely sources of male “stones” to originate came one for the memory of our little tale teller; your classic hunting adventure. This was strictly a back-yard expedition, with the two farmers, taU and small, hiking the several hundred yards down through the meadow to the little cluster of trees On being a farm wife -And other hazards Joyce Bupp fm and swamp long dubbed “Bunker Hill.” As the flourescent. orange colored hunters began scouting out the little woods; what would come padding up through the moss and leaves but a cat, out for its own adventure, likely. As the cat paraded in through a jagged bnar patch, it surprised a sneaky cook bird, who probably figured he’d be real safe in the tangled mass. Flushed out by the old cat, the bird glided to a big tree nearby. Off when the hunting tean>, one small to flank off to the side and divert the wary bird, while the other drew a bead on the quarry and felled the trophy. (I root for the birds sounds unfair to me!) Proudly, the smaller hunter dragged me on a hike soon after to relive, in stereophonic simulated sound from the battle site, all the details of the expedition. He now has his own “story” to start a collection of memories to q^.s.Ca® Today, November 14 Lancaster Co. Society 6 meets with Mrs. Martin Hoffer to hear Mrs. David Hawthorne speak Lancaster Co. But can’t you just see them someday roll their eyes and snicker with that “Sure, you did! ” look on their faces when he recounts how, as a boy, he got the pheasant by chasing it out with a cat. Why, that’s enough to make any self-respecting beagle dog hang up his license. WE GUARANTEE LOWEST PRICES IN CENTRAL PA. Why buy elsewhere when we offer major brands at tremendous ware house savings?
