transfers, will be on display next
weekend in a series of nine farm
tours planned by the Lancaster
County Farmers’ Association.
The tours, scheduled next
Saturday and Sunday from 1 to, 5
pm., are being held by the Lan
caster County ,Farmers’
Association as part, of the group’s
Zimmermans

Ivanhoe Star in his breeding
program. And Osborndale Ivanhoe
has contributed to some of his
breeding foundation.
One of the strongest cow families
at Zimhaven Farm, began with an
excellent Obsbordale Ivanhoe
daughter in the 1960’5. Her
daughters Very Good 86, remains
in the herd today and has provided
the Zimmermans with two Good
Plus daughters and one Very Good

caster County. Extension Office in
the Farm and Home Center. They
will also be distributed countywide
through elementary school
students.
Participating farms will be
marked with a “Farm Tour” sign
for visitors.

1-Dairy goat'operation of Mr.
and Mrs. Jacob Fisher. Follow Ht.
72 north to Manheim, past the Auto
Auction turn right on Buck Noll
Road. The farm is about three
fourths of a mile on the left.
2-The sheep farm of the William
Longenecker family. Shearing and
fitting demonstrations will be held.
In Mt. Joy turn right on Fairview
Road to Risser Mill Road. It is the
first farm on the left.
3-Em Tran, one of the largest
embryo transfer facilities in the
area, will display its laboratory
area and other buildings for
recipient heifers. On Et. 230, two
miles west of Elizabethtown, cross
bridge and turn right to the first
farm on the left.
4-The dairy operation of the
Nelson Hershey family includes
about 70 cows. Follow Rt. 462 to
Mountville, turn left on Hershey
Mill Road and then left on Rohrer
Road.
5-Energy conservation will be
featured at the Nelson Habecker
dairy farm. The Habeckers utilize
solar panels not only to help heat
their home but also for heating
domestic water, hi the barn, heat
from the milk cooling compressor
is used to heat water for cleanup
and also to heat the milk house.
FFA and 4-H exhibits and petting
animals will also be located on the
Habecker farm. Follow Rt. 462 to
Mountville. turn left on Donerville
Road and then right on Habecker
Church Road to the second farm on
the right.
6-Florys Mill, both a wholesale

milling exhibit. From the south
side of the Rt. 283 bypass, exit at
McGovernville to the Florys Mill
Road.
7- Cherry Hill orchard
operation of the Richard Haas
family. Storage, packing and sales
areas will be on display. Follow the
New Danville Pike south to the
operation on the right.
8- 2 of the Haas operation,
including a tour of the orchard and
display of equipment. Continue

and Abram Barley, including some
800 head of stock, along with cow
and heifer barns among the largest
in the area. Follow Rt. 999 to
Washington Boro and south on
River Road. Just beyond Turkey
Hill Dairy, turn right on Chestnut
Grove Road to the first farm on the
right.
