Thomas Sheaffer was honored for his high herd average in milk and fat production. His herd average in milk was 19,353 pounds with 698 pounds in but: terfat. Huntsdale Stock Farm Crystall rose to the top of the herd for the Sheaffer family with the highest two-year-old milk record of 22,390 pounds. A favorite cow on the Brymesser Farm provided J.B. Brymesser and Sons with the highest cow m the county for milk production, milking 27,633 pounds this year. J. Paul Strock’s two year old. Token, gamed her claim-to-fame with an outstanding butterfat record of 731 lbs. Rodney Rice of Sandrod Farms was honored for his outstanding accomplishment of the “Greatest Increase in Production” in Cumberland County. The Association also acknowledged five top herds in butterfat and milk for 1980-81. The five top dairymen and their herds were M. Thomas Sheaffer, Fer man L. Landis, Sundays Vallilea Farms, Paul Strock and Nevm Shughart, respectively Harold Boldessor, Cumberland County DHIA Manager, highlighted the county records for 1980-81. He reported that the county average in pounds of milk was 15,342 with 565 pounds of butterfat. Boldessor added that 23 of the 102 full year herds milked an average of 14,000 pounds and 28 of those full year herds had an average of 500-349 pounds ot acknowledged his supervisors, butterfat for the year.
