Brooks Side Fayvor Mindy was one of 84 head sold that included a complete dispersal of Brookside Farm in Hancock, New Hamp shire, and additional private consignments. The sale, co managed by the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders Assoc, and The Merryman Company, Sparks, Md., grossed $77,100 with the first 40 head averaging $l,lOO. New Hampshire dairyman Hugh Dunning purchased the top heifer and her dam. In fact, before the day ended, Dunning (with ab sentee bidding through friend Dick Merritt, Farmington, Conn.) bought two daughter-dam pairs. Consigned from Brookside Farm, the sale-topper is a Housleys Dari Fayvor daughter currently bred to Jupiter. Her dam, sired by a Western Glow Darimost son boasts a record of 14,188 lbs. of milk and 605 lbs. of fat. Kids will be kids. While Grandpa John and Father Edwin are busy collecting bids during the sale, 4-year-old Louis Merryman decides he’ll "tidy” up the place by taking apart the sale-ring drapery. Peterson also purchased the third top-seller, Chedco Fayvor for $1,685. The Dari Fayvor daughter, a bred heifer, is out of a Lyrene May Rose Prince. The 84 Guernseys, which in cluded 3 bulls, were consigned from New Hampshire, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, Conn, and Pennsylvania.
