    NCA survey shows decrease
in retail beef prices
DENVER, Colo. Retail beef
prices in early October were down
from a month earlier, the National
Cattlemen’s Assn, reports.
The Association’s 19-sity survey
of 'super markets showed the
national average price of five beef
cuts on Oct. 8 was $2.44 per pound,
compared to $2.49 on Sept. 10.
Cattleand wholesale beef prices
have decreased recently, NCA
noted, and this decrease is now
being reflected in lower average
retail beef prices.

distributing meat, NCA’s five-cut
average price for October was
slightly less than it was a year ago.
The five-cut average for October
was down from September in 13
cities, up in five and unchanged in
one. The 19-city average prices of
ground beef, sirloin steak and T
bone steak decreased, while the
average prices of round steak and
chuck roast increased slightly. -

prospects for the selling of surplus

and Mrs. William E. Schaeffer, has
been riding horses since.she was 9
years old. She is a student at
Gettysburg College.
