NCA survey shows decrease in retail beef prices DENVER, Colo. Retail beef prices in early October were down from a month earlier, the National Cattlemen’s Assn, reports. The Association’s 19-sity survey of 'super markets showed the national average price of five beef cuts on Oct. 8 was $2.44 per pound, compared to $2.49 on Sept. 10. Cattleand wholesale beef prices have decreased recently, NCA noted, and this decrease is now being reflected in lower average retail beef prices.
