Maiyiand 4-H'er wins V in nat'l BALTIMORE, Md. - Another Maryland County resident has won top honors in national 4-H dairy cattle judging competition. This year’s winner is Michael J. Allen, 18, of Jefferson, an animal science sophomore at the University of Maryland in College Park. Ronnie KUng of Taneytown, Maryland, won in 1974. Mike placed first in over-all individual standings, as well as total reasons. In addition, he was first in Jersey breed judging and second in Ayrshire judging. The national contest was held in conjunction with the World Dairy Expo at Madison, Wisconsin. TirT CARLISLE Cindy and Steve Otto received trophies for Out standing 4-H Girl and Boy, the highest county 4-H awards, from ■Carlisle Kiwanis Club, for their outstanding achievement in 4-H. The awares were presented by Stan Simkms, president of Carlisle Kiwanis Club at an awards program held September 29, at the Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle. Cindy and Steve are 'the daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Otto, Rfl, Carlisle. Cindy is a 10-year 4-H member and has received state 4-H recognition for her work in hor ticulture and bicycle. Steve is an eight-year member and active in horse, swine, dog' and riflery project. The Middlesex 4-H Club, under the leadership of Linda Durham, received recognition from the Adams Electric Cooperative for the club’s outstanding par ticipation at the County Speak Out Contest. Edith Hemmmger, Newville, received a set of kitchenware as recognition for outstanding work in foods, by the Foley Manufacturing Company.
