A2B—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 3,1981 Bloomsburg Fair features record Holstein entries BY DONNA TOMMELLEO BLOOMSBURG - Not only did this years Bloomsburg Fair, one ot the largest in the state, attract thousands of people but a record number of Black and Whiles also showed up Wednesday for the second day of the Fair’s Dairy Show, according to livestock supenntedent Fred Giger. More than 200 Holstems from the central and eastern sections of the state paraded in the main arena. But the one name that consistently appeared in the winners column was Globe Run Farm, Petersburg. Not supnsmgly, the Premier Breeder and Exhibitor banners hung above the Globe Run tack box by the end of the day. Globe Run Holstems, exhibited by John Foster, Jr., racked up several individual wins and swept the majority of the group classes. However, the feather in the cap was Foster’s 3-year-old cow which was named grand champion. Globe Run Fawn Honor Litton, owned by Annabelle and John Foster, Sr., is sired by Rocby Apollo Fawn Honor and out ot Globe Run Cluel Marty Lady. The grand champ was first in Penn sylvania at the All-American and is projected at more than 20,000 pounds of milk. Reserve Grand Champion honors went to Fra-Jan Farm, Orangeville. It was the first tune this year that Frank Jurbala exhibited his aged cow, Lo-Pme Ivy Edith. Bred to Valiant, the reserve champ is sired by Sterk Ivy Telstar and out ot Lo-Pme Nobleman Ester. Sordoni Sterling Farm, Inc., Harvey’s Lake, claimed two Champion ribbons before the day ended. Early in the competition Sterlingold Arlinda Chief, a junior yearling bull was named grand champion bull. Sired by Pawnee Farm Arlinda Chief, the champ is out of C Welcome instigator Lasa. The second Champion ribbon was awarded to another young animal, Sterlingold Citamatt Tilhe. The senior yearling heifer, sired by Sir Glenndge Citamatt was the junior champion. Jean LeVan’s senior heifer calf, Wyndmg-Brook Jemiru Charity, captured Reserve Junior Cham pion honors. The Milton 4-H’er was also selected as champion showman and fitter in the senior division.
