P 1 i i. \ I'.' y o breeds were pretty well scattered across the state among the more than 600 animals shown by 4-H’ers and FPA’ers. But Lebanon and Chester Counties tied for the most top awayds. Lebanon County exhibitors had one grand and two reserve grands and Chester County had two grands and one reserve. But of these stones, my favorite is that which unfolded in the Jersey competition. To take the top two placings is a rare and distinguished honor. But to have two sisters do it. must run against astounding odds. But when 17-year-old Betsy Wallaston, led her four-year-old and her three-year-old into the winner’s circle, she was beaming with joy. The only larger smile was displayed by older sister, Cathy, 24, who knew just how Betsy felt. She did the same thing back in 1972 and 1973. Betsy is the last of six children of Charles Wailaston, of Maple Lawn Farm, showing in the junior competition. Next year will be the last year of showing for the Delaware Valley College freshman. And you just know that older sister Cathy will be rooting the loudest and longest for Betsy to become the second member of the family to twice exhibit twin champions. And rooting more quietly but just as vehemently off to the side will be the proud father, whose family maintains about 100 head of Jer seys, milking some 60 - all home bred.
