D32—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 19,1981 Progress continues on Dauphin land HARRISBURG - Soil loss on cropland continues as a major local concern of the Dauphin County Natural Resource In ventory, reports Joel Myers of the Soil Conservation Service in Dauphin County. Dave Ball, a graduate student at Penn State, conducted the field inventory in 1980. The study contains detailed information on soil losses from cropland as well as other land uses. Information on the study will be available in ' a brochure to be published later this fall. Myers explains this is the first county study to be completed in Penn sylvania and one of the first in the nation. Results will be compared with those at state and national levels. With the completion of the analysis, data will be summarized according to soil losses by land uses, especially relevant to corn.
