Arundel and Baltimore County
teen-agers continued their strong
showing in this year's senior
Western 4-H horse and pony show,
held'Sunday, August 30 at the
Maryland State Fair in Timonium.
Cindy Gertz, 18, o! Crownsville,
Anne Arundel County, was back
winning top honors with her seven
year-old Quarter horse gelding,
Clark’s Joker, for the third con
secutive year, while D. Joy Tice,
14, of Harwood, Anne Arundel
County, continued her winning
ways from junior Western com
petition in previous years with
Bobalots, a six-year-old Quarter
horse mare.
Bonnie Connelly, 18, of Dundalk,
Baltimore County, won top honors
in senior grooming and
showmanship, as well as three
first-place finishes in the Western
performance classes with Kakit’s
Sacajawea.
Andrea Tauraso, 17, of
Frederick, Frederick County, was
-this year’s recipient of the Linda C.

Md. teens take honors in horse show
Baron memorial trophy, given
annually since 1977 to the winner of
the senior Western horsemanship
class. The plaque is sponsored by
the Perry Hall 4-H Horse and Pony
Club of Baltimore County in
memory of a deceased member
who was outstanding in both
horsemanship and sportsmanship.

Turp Lady, also placed first in one
Western performance class and
second in another.
Laurie Ogonowski, 14, of Nor
theast,- Cecil County, and her
P.O.A. mare, Lonesome Victory,
won higher honors this year m
senior Western performance than
they did last year in junior com
petition. They were first in pole
bending for ponies, second in the
barrel race, and second in the
keyhole race.
A southern Maryland contestant,
Kristin Tracy, and her steed. Coca
Poco, took first in pole-bending for
horses. Kristin lives at the
Patuxent Naval Air Test Center in
St. Marys County. She and her
