A3o—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 22,1981' Kutztown Colored Breeds (Continued from Page A2B) Reserve Junior Champion honors as well. Scott only settled for the second spot in junior competition behind an intermediate calf, owned by Michael Spayd, R 3 Reading, which was named junior champion. It was Scott’s senior calf that took the reserve junior honors, out placing his own senior yearling. Michael Kline, R 1 Birdsboro, had the first place junior yearling followed by Tom Galloway, Bechtelsvilie, and Clark Sat tazahn, Womelsdorf. Second place senior yearling was owned by John Lmdstrom, Bremingsville. Scott’s brother, Gary, showed his junior two-year-old to first place in its class. He also placed first in Best Udder, and Senior Get of-Sire. He took red ribbons in Three-Year-Old, Four-Year-Old and Five Years and Older classes, placing behind Scott in each class. Gary Hauseman also placed third and fourth in Senior Two- Year-Olds and second in Dam and Daughter. Bob Russell, Boyertown, placed first in Senior Two-Year-Olds, leaving the red ribbon for Scott Hauseman. Other entries of Scott Hauseman placed third and fourth in Five Years and Older, and he had firsts in Best Three Females, Produce of Dam, and Dam and Daughter classes. Eastern Berks 4-H Club placed first in school or club herd while Oley FFA placed second. It took some doing, but Richard Hartz, Oley, finally topped the Zollers family at the kutztown Fair Guernsey Show. Having seen the Zollers’ Guernseys take grand champion honors at the show for the past several years, Hartz must have been more than pleased when his three-year-old entry, Foxie Springs Falcons Cotton, was named grand champion. Reserve grand champion was awarded to a four year old shown by William Zollers Jr., named Lmdenhof Bart Olga, sired by Grandview Wistars Bart. The sire of the grand champion was Spring Ridge G. Falcon. Junior show honors were awarded to Richard Hartz for his junior yearling, Manatawny Fayvor Wanda while reserve junior honors were bestowed upon an intermediate calf named Blue Mt. View Boots, shown by Susan Hollenbach, Bernville. Fifteen-year-old Patricia Dreisbach, Hamburg, watched as her sister, Carol walked away with Junior Champion and Reserve Junior Champion Honors at the Kutztown Fair Jersey Show, not to be out done, however, Patti returned to sweep the honors during the Senior Show and went on to capture the honors of Grand and Reserve Grand Champions as well. It was Patti’s aged cow, six year-old Jersey Acres Q Rhoda, sired by S.S. Quicksilver of Fallneva, that captured the highest honors of the show. Scored at Excellent-91, this cow was champion last year at the same show and also at the 1980 Reading Fair. She maintains a record of about 12,000 pounds milk and 500 fat. Reserve grand champion was a four-year-old named MLF Milestone Pride, sired by Ad vancer Sleeping. The junior champions shown by Carol Oreisbach are full sisters, a senior yearling sired by Jodys Noble Surville out of Spring Run G.O. named Wilderness Jody Vixen and an intermediate calf named Wilderness Jody Virginia. The Dreisbachs have a herd of about 70 registered Jerseys, eleven of which belong to Patti. Asked why she is so attached to a par ticular breed, Patti explained Jersey’s are easy to work with and are quiet cows. Pmesedge Farm, Shoemaker sville, showed several members of their unique herd of Milking Shorthorn to champion honors during the dairy shows at the Kutztown Fair. Having representatives in most classes of the show, the Yoders took all champion honors except tor the Junior Show where, their daughter, Wendy was awarded champion honors for her senior two-year-old named Honey Creek Caesar’s Mary and her aged cow, Clayside Cinderella 6th. These cows were named senior and grand champion and reserve senior and reserve grand champions of the Junior Show, respectively. In the Open Show, senior and grand champion was a three-year old named Pmesedge Lady Valentine, sired by Valley View V. Strasburg. Reserve grand and reserve senior champion was Pmesedge Melody, an aged cow sired in 1970 by Pmesedge Apollo. Junior champion was a junior yearling named Pmesedge Mario’s Cantata while the reserve junior champion was a senior yearlmg, Pmesedge Mario Miss Jill, both sired by Cedar Valley Mario.
