Kimmel shows Cumberland steer champ Angie Fought, Carlisle, was the senior champion showman in the 4-H Sheep Showman competition and Champion Open Market Lamb. v BY BETH HEMMINGEH Staff Correspondent CARLISLE Cumberland County 4-H Market Steer and Showmanship competition held last Wednesday evening at the Carlisle Fair kept judge Peter LeVan on his toes with 36 ram bunctious entries. LeVan is the manager of the Beef Forage Research Farm at Penn State. Cumberland County 4-H’er Ron Kunmel was a happy exhibitor when he heard that famous slap on his steer’s rump proclaiming his steer as grand champion and heavy weight champion of the 1981 Market Steer Show. Angie Fought followed close behind to reign as the reserve heavy weight and reserve grand champion. The first lightweight steer class began with little ‘lightweight’ competition. The seven steers, ranging from 650 to 775 pounds, circled the ring numerous tunes before the judge could select a winner.
