A36—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 15,1981 BUTLER A 7-year-old cow, jointly owned by two Western Pennsylvania fanners, topped a field of more than 200 entries and was named Grand Champion Holstein at the Western Pa. Championship Holstein Show last Saturday at the Butler Farm Show Grounds. Parkacres Sun Ivy, the aged cow entry of Edward Doebenener, Jamestown and John Park, Brookville, also took home Senior Champion honors. Bred by Park, the Ivanhoe Star daughter moved to Doebenener’s Another Ivanhoe Star daughter, Wagnercrest Star Wmney, owned by Bernard and Patricia Wagner, Meadville, captured top triple honors at the show. Bred by Bernard and David Wagner, Meadville, the Wmney cow walked off with Reserve Grand Champion, Senior Reserve Champion and Best Owned and-Bred. Judge Ron Long, Plains City, Ohio, selected Paul Lawrence’s senior 2-year-old for best udder in show. The New Castle dairyman’s entry, Lawrence-Haven Threat Polly is sired by Hanover-Hill Triple Threat-Red and out of Pats Bandolero Pet. A senior yearling bull, Winding- Trail Ultimate Prince was named Champion Bull. A Hmch-Smith farm entry, the 2-year-old Quality Ultimate son is owned by Wendell and Luella Smith, Butler. Londondale Marvex Clint, the Reserve Champion Bull was the senior yearling entry of Arthur London, Punxsutawney. Two junior yearling heifers walked off with Junior Champion and Reserve Junior Champion ribbons. Junior Champion, Leadfield Petro Charotte-ET is owned by Leadfield Asociates and sired by Junell Ivanhoe Chief Charlie. The champ’s dam is C Craigo Petro Telstar. Highland-H Farms Topper Sybil, Reserve Junior Champion is owned and bred by Fred E. Hind man, Brockway. Jenelle, 8-year-old daughter of Holstein breeders Tom and June Boyer, Biesecker Road, York, found herself with a calf of a dif ferent color to raise and show when her name was drawn to receive a registered Guernsey calf, donated by Avalong Farms of York. “Avalong Fayyor Sheba Shelby” was born on April 22. She’s sired by “Housleys Dairy Fayvor,” and is out of 5-year-old dam “Avalong Century Songbird Sheba”. In her current lactation, the dam is .projected to 13,000, having milked '9,000 as a 2-year-old, 10,000 pound® in her second lactation, •m'* as a 4-year-old.
