SPOKANE, Wash. Robert C. Baum of Salem, Oregon, began a one-year term as president of the Soil Conservation Society of America last Thursday. Baum, who is Pacific Region Representative for the National Association of Conservation Districts, was elected president elect by members of the in ternational conservation organization a year ago. He has been serving as president of the society for the last two months, following the resignation of 1980 President JesseJHicks. Baum now begins his regular one-year term of office.
