Record numbers show Angus heifers at nat 9 l show
NASHVILLE, Tn. - Young
Angus breeders brought 604 head
of Angus heifers to the 1981
National Junior Angus Heifer
Show in Nashville, Tennessee, July
9*lo, making it the largest single
breed heifer show ever held,
reports Jerry Lipsey, director of
Junior Activities for the American
Angus Association. The event held
here at the Tennessee State
Fairground, was -judged by Bill
Jacobs of California Polytechnic
College, San Luis Obispo.
For grand champion Jacobs
selected the champion heifer of the
bred-and-owned division shown by
Rick Blanchard, Mendota,
California. The heifer, Ricks
Juanadabury 3000, is a daughter of

1980. The heifer was yearling
champion and then champion of
the 141-head bred-and-owned
division
Dennis Knop, Ida Grove, lowa,
showed the reserve grand
champion heifer, KAF Miss
Wampum 037. His heifer was
yearling champion and then
division champion of the “Owned”
division. Born March 5, 1980, the
heifer is a daughter of Sir Wms
Wampum
In the special cow-calf division,
sponsored by the Tennessee Junior
Angus Association, the champion
was exhibited by James Pipkin,
Springfield, Missouri. The cow was
Clearwater Sporty Eriskay J, the
Double capacity,
