Thymian named
USDA Market Chief
as
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Assistant
Secretary of Agriculture C.W.
McMillan has named Mildred Pyle
Thynuan, a Minnesota farmer and
senatorial assistant, as ad
ministrator of the U.S. Depart
ment of Agriculture’s Marketing
Service.
According to a recent Mid-
Atlantic Market Administrator’s
bulletin, Thyiman will head a 2,160-
person agency concerned with a
variety of marketing activities,
including: classing and grading of
cotton and tobacco; gathering and
reporting wholesale market news
for various commodities;
regulation of packers, stockyards,
seed and fruit vegetable handlers;
federal warehouse inspection and
licensing; market research and
development; and administration
of marketing orders for milk,
fruits and vegetables.

Republican women in Minnesota to

endorsement as a candidate for the
state’s 6th U.S. Congressional

With her husband Donald,
Thymian owns a dairy farm m

Thymian was a legislative
assistant to Senator David F.
Durenberger in his Mmneapolis-St.
Paul office during 1980 and 1961.
She was bom in Davis, Illinois
and received a bachelors degree
from the University of Minnesota.
