What is the correct interest rate? Albert Goforth Woods town, New Jersey Mr. Goforth: According to Ray Brubaker, County Executive Director for the Lancaster ASCS office, the interest rate for the loans mentioned in the article is now 14.5 percent. This rate has been in effect since April of this year. The interest rates on these Commodity Credit Corporation loans for gram-drying and storage units are updated each April and October. The rates on these loans are variable and may go up or down at the time they are updated, he said. Dons Hennque, University of Delaware agriculture information editor, stated she was not aware of the change in the interest rate. Don Tilmon, author of the article, had written it awhile ago, Hennque stated, adding she would check with turn on his figures. ★★* ★ * Umcastf-Faraiint, Saturday, lirfy 2S^|9tl—C2l ■rown Swiss Junior Champion Mike iVeWi of East Berlin Senior Champion Mike Welsh Mike Welsh „ Reserve Champion Carol and Tommy Welsh Junior Champion Mike Welsh of East Berlin Junior Reserve Lucille Ocker of Shippensburc Senior Champion Lucille Ocktr Lucille Ocker Our farm group is Interested in obtaining a program on first aid. Can you give us some information on who to call for this type of program? The first place to check about any type of first aid demon strations is your area Red Cross. According to Peggy Breneman, of the Lancaster County chapter, the Red Cross offers a number of courses on first aid. The type of program presented depends mainly on the age of the group requesting the training. The Red Cross has kindergarten through adult classes. These courses teach a number of first aid procedures including: burns, choking, moutb-to-mouth resuscitation, and CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation). A few of these courses are taught only at the Red Cross offices, and generally take six hours of training to complete. The Red Cross also has a number of free films available on first-aid techniques. In addition to the Red Cross, some ambulance associations and the American Heart Association (for CPU instruction only) will give demonstrations and provide training for groups.
