That garden of mine is a slave
driver sometimes. As soon as I get
one thing in line another gets out ot
line—l could work there con
stantly.
As soon as I neglect it to harvest
crops, the weeds get ahead of me.
Then, after I spend a few hours
hoeing, I find that the second crop
of peas ready for picking. Even
though the pea vines turn yellow, I
feel it is worth it to let them bloom
a second time before removing the
500 feet of fence that supports
them.
As soon as the last strawberry is
picked, I can turn around and find
the black raspberries have
ripened. This year, for the first
time, my husband has been
bringing me a few red raspberries

garden, 1 put in a long row ot sweet
potatoes after Allen kindly hills up
the ground for me. One row for

home for cucumbers and another
is planted into popcorn since it is
one of Cindy’s favorite snacks.
This year I’ll have very few
heads of cabbage. I planted some
three tunes, and each tune rabbits
ate it off down to the ground. This
is the first year that I’ve had this
problem but it is also the first year
that we’ve had only a few cats.»
One other pest that we must get
rid of is the sparrows. We have an
over abundant supply and they get
the blame for our having no

they ate all the buds oil the stalks

Gardening is necessary, and 1
like to work with both vegetable
and tlower plants. 1 suppose you’ll

The two women interviewed with
their husbands said they are eager

way ot life, although they are
familiar because ot all the in
