C22—Lancaster Farming, Friday, July 3,1981 Angus BY SHEILA MILLER ALLENTOWN - Pennsylvania Junior Angus exhibitors left the Second Northeastern Junior Angus Preview Show, held here Saturday at the Fairgrounds, with several of the championship trophies. In the Bred and Owned division, Carol Krause, Slatmgton, Lehigh Co., captured the champion’s trophy with her November 8, 1980 heifer, C L K Erica 580. The calf is sired by General J J Patton, out of Erica 152 H of Stewarts. In the Owned division, Monique Sweigard, Halifax, Dauphin Co., claimed two of the championship honors. Her first trophy was won by her September 20,1980 calf, H F Enchantress 7. The heifer was selected as the reserve calf champion by Judge Jake White of Sugarloaf Angus, Panama, Oklahoma. She is sired by the well-known P S Power Play, the 1980 National Champion, out of H F Enchantress 167. Sweigard’s second trophy was awarded to her intermediate champion, Miss Eden Croft Byergos 002. Calved May 13, 1980, the champ was sired by Byergos Black Revolution 36, out of Ankony 8999 Lassoolß4. And Lancaster’s Ernest Frey, 11, Quarryville, brought home a trophy for his reserve in termediate champion heifer, Skarship Kyma G 1030. This May 15, 1980 heifer is a Sir Wms Geiger daughter, out of Kyma ot Valleymere LDSI2F. Dale Rains, Mercer, was awarded the Premier Breeder’s trophy for his P S Power Play get. Rams is the current president of the Northeast Junior Angus Association, and a delegate to the national Association. Twenty-year-old Gregory Un tied, a cowboy on the Ira Boggs farm in Claverack, New York, swept the junior championships with his two entries. These two females went on to be chosen grand and reserve grand cham pions by Judge White who praised their size, femininity, soundness, elevation, and type similarities. Untied, who is originally from a family-run Angus farm in Frazeysburg, Ohio, took the grand championship and junior cham pionship with his January 26, 1980 heifer, Iras Evera 007. She is sired by Sir Wms Wampum, out of Sir Williams Evera 2924. Other championship honors went to; Timothy Connell, Hillsdale, New York, reserve champion Bred and Owned, with T C Bluenbbon; and Rick Petow, Kensington, Connecticut, call champion, Owned, with R & J Miss Elbe 2050. Managing the show m the Pennsylvania Dutch tradition was Diane Krause, last year’s Penn sylvania Angus queen and suc cessful Angus showman and breeder.
