Middle Atlantic Coastal: Some hot showers, rain, heavy on coast,
cooling, weekend is partly cloudy.
Piedmont It Southeast Coastal: Showers turn to ram and cool,
cloudy throughout week.

MARY: Trading chi slaughter
steers and heifers was moderate
for the week. -Slaughter steers
through Wednesday, .50 to 1.00
higher. Heifers .50 higher. Cows
and bulls weak to 1.00 lower, but
not too well tested due >to small
supply. Best demand for steers
early in week centered on YG 2-3
over 1150 lbs. with some lots
carrying several good grade
selling at or near the top of the
market. Good grade steers and
heifers were under pressure on
Wednesday as a result of a wider
price spread on Good and Choice
carcasses. Receipts this week
about 2700 as compared to 4246 a

Steers made up 50 pet of week’s
receipts, heifers 27 pet, cows 10
pet, feeder 9 pet.
In spite of sharp declines in the
carcass beef trade, live cattle
prices ranged higher for the week;
as' Omaha terminal receipts
numbered 36 pet less than a week
ago and buyers were forced to
compete actively for close-up
slaughter needs. Choice steers 1100
lbs. and up and Choice heifers 950
lbs. and up again enjoyed the best
demand. As lighter weight of
ferings carrying a considerable
percentage of good grades, con
tinue to be present in increased
numbers. Yield Grade 4-5 cattle
present a minimal problem at this
time.
