The ideal Herd was founded in 1959 by the late Jake Tanis, Sr. Due to the recent death of Mr.. Tanis, the herd must be dispersed. All five hundred lots in this dispersion sale were bred in the Tanis Ideal Herd. Not only do they carry the Ideal prefix, they are backed with four, five, six, seven, and eight generations of Ideal breeding. The ideal Herd was founded by cattle people, cattle have been their only source of income. This is really unique, and all of this has been accomplished in the State of New Jersey on high-taxable land. The Ideal Brogram came into focus with a very select draft of quality foundation females. The original foundation sire, Black Prince of Wye, siriedby Puck of Wickwire, from the Wye Plantation herd at,Queen stown, Maryland. He was to be followed by Arlington of Wye, a son of Prince of Malpas, who left many ■ sensational females in the program. The next “super star” to be introduced to the Ideal program was Amazon of Wye, a son of Conan of Wye, whose name will appear in the tabulations of over 250 head selling in this dispersion sale. Over the years Ideal Farm has been the home of some of the greatest Wye bulls of the breed. It was the first nationally recognized herd to use Wye bred bulls, and the fruits of the powerful maternal Wye characteristics prevail heavily in the Ideal program.
