UNIVERSITY PARK - Com petition was keen as 200 4-H and FFA members from around the state, and 30 university students, gathered recently for the Spring Dairy Cattle Judging Contest at Penn State University. The contest was the first phase of the 56 Annual Dairy Exposition sponsored by the Penn State Dairy Science Club, In 4-H team competition, the overall winner and third in reasons was Washington County. The team consisted of Anne Barchiesi of Waynesboro, Alan Kozak, Jill Minor, and Rachael Sherman all of Washington. The team was coached by Patty McMurray of Washington. The second team overall in 4-H judging was from Potter County. Team members included Bob Carroll or Genessee, Jack Thomas, Don Thompson, and Mike Thompson, all of Ulysses. In FFA team competition, Mansfield High School’s “B” team took first overall and placed second m reasons. Stephanie Kocher and Steve Smith, both of Mansfield, and Jennifer Robbins and Todd Tice, both of Mamesburg, made up the team coached by Charles Huffman, vo ag teacher. Insurance is available until April 30 on com and up to May 10 on soybeans.
