Angus bull tops performance tested sale ) STATE COLLEGE - An Angus bull owned by Pat-Rics Farm of Germanville; Lehigh County sold for J5OOO, highest bid at the 1981 Pennsylvania Performance Tested Bull Sale. The' sale was at the Penn sylvania Department of Agriculture’s Meat Animal Evaluation Center m State College. Prior to the sale, 84 bulls were put on test at the center. The 60 top bulls sold for a total of $84,425, averaging $1,424 each. In the Polled Hereford sale, $2500 bought “SBF Royal Gainer Lad,” the top indexing Polled Hereford. The bull had an ADG of 3.48 pounds and a 365 day weight of 1184 pounds. He topped the Charolais test in three other categories 365 day weight, 1313 pounds; lifetime weight per day of age, 3.72 pounds, and stood 54/ inches tall. The second high selling Charolais sold for $lBOO to Stanley Crome of Annville, Lebanon County. The bull was consigned by Running Tree Farm of Flemington, New Jersey. Nittany Farm of State College, Centre County consigned the two top selling bulls m the Chianma sale. “Nittany White Knight 8010,” sold for $1950 while “Nittany Prince 8021,” sold for $l3OO.
