Hires new A.I. researcher
TUNKHANNOCK - W. Nesbit
Fleming, Maple Park, Illinois is
named to a newly created staff
position as Director Production
and Research for Sire Power,
according to DuWayne A. Kutz,
General Manager.
Fleming brings to his new
position outstanding technical
education, A.I. experience, and
proven qualifications.
As Director of Production and
Research, Fleming will supervise
all phases of Sire Power’s semen
production and semen utilization.
He will direct and evaluate
research in semen processing and
handling. Also semen storage,
technician insemination
techniques, and field reproduction
problems.
Previously, Fleming was em
ployed by Curtiss Breeding In
dustries, Inc. of Glburn, Illinois. In
his seven years at Curtiss, he
progressed from Technical
Director to Vice-President of
Production and Research. His
responsibilities there included
Livestock Department, Farming
Operation, Laboratory Depart
ment, and Research and Quality
Control Programs
Fleming, a native of North
Carolina, attended North Carolina
State University, where he
received a Bachelor of Science in
Zoology. He received his Master ol
Science and Doctor of Philosophy
Degrees from Virginia Polytechnic
Institute.
His Master’s Degree is in
Reproduction Physiology and his
Doctorate work was in tjje field of
freezing embryos. While at VPI he
was a Graduate Research
Assistant and recipient of the HEW
Bio-Medical Traineeship.
He was also a teaching assistant
in senior and graduate level

Physiology, Large Animal
Physiology and Cytology.
Fleming is active in professional
organizations such as: American
Society of Animal Science; Society
for the Study of Reproduction; and
International Embryo Transfer
Society. Additional activities in
clude: serving on the Research
Committee for the National
Association of Animal Breeders,
and he was recently elected to the
Board of Directors of the National
Association of Animal Breeders,
serving a three year term. He has
also written several articles for
dairy journals and A.I
publications.
Fleming, his wife June, and their
two children, Todd-10 and Deana-8,
will relocate to the Tunkhannock
area.

is the only candidate who
was nominated through the
merit selection system for
the third judge of Lycoming
County. He is awaiting con
firmation.

is very active in his church where
he is a Sunday School teacher
and where he has held the posi
tions of chairman of the
Trustees, Administrative Board,
Council on Ministries and Pastor-
Parish Relations Committee
