A third-place finisher in the July 1 - July 20 class, the boar, CLLO Summit’s Brute, was sold for $6OO to Gordon Long, of Columbia. The champion boar, a Chester White, consigned by Ken Wetzel and family, Rl, Rossiter, was sold for $350 to Gale Bressner, of Chenoa, Rl. The reserve champion from LeAnn Yorkshires, R 7, Lebanon, went to Bruce Kitchen, Falling Waters, W. Va., for $330. A total of 13 boars averaged $302. In the bred gilt sale, 27 head averaged $306.85. The champion Yorkshire from Calvin Lazarus & Sons also went to Gordon Long for $450. The reserve, champion Duroc, consigned by Larry Arnold, Lebanon, was sold to the Smith Hog Farm, of Washington, Pa. for $4OO. Thirty head of open averaged $166.33 The champion Landrace of Larry Baum, R 3, Elizabethtown, was sold to Jay Blatt, Arnmlle, for $250. The reserve champion Duroc, consigned by Mahoning Creek Farms, was sold to Dale E. Myers, Wellsville, Pa. A special feature was the sale of two donated December gilts. Proceeds from their sale went toward the fund established for the late Dwight Younkm, of Penn State. A Duroc gilt from Mahoning Creek Farms, Rl, Smicksburg, was sold for $2lO to Gus Parlett, Airville. A Yorkshire gilt from LeAnn Yorkshires, R 7, Lebanon, was sold to Dennis Grumbme and Ken Ketterer for $2OO and then resold to Gordon Long for $65, In all, there were 70 registered buyers from eight states at the sale, which was sponsored by the Pa.
