C2B—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, February 7,1981 HARRISBURG Governor Dick Thornburgh took tune from his schedule to meet with the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association recently to sign a proclamation denoting February 8 to 14, 1981 as Pennsylvania Young Farmers Week m the Com monwealth. Recognizing the necessity of a strong agricultural economy to both producers and consumers in the state and the need for capable and knowledgable leadership, Governor Thornburgh recognized the important role of this organization and it lembers in the future of agriculture in tne Keystone State and the growth of our economy ” Governor Thornburgh voiced his pride in Pennsylvania's role as an agricultural leader” and its rural population, the largest in the nation Pointing toward the par ticipation of individual com munities in this statewide organization, the proclamation says, “The PYFA was organized through the Vocational Agricultural Programs in public schools to provide continued educational opportunities for young farm families and agriculturists ” The week of February 8 to 14 was chosen to coincide with PYFA’s State Convention and Annual Meeting to be held this year in Hershey, February 9 and 10 DENVER, Colo.
