    Fancy Flock Flyers sell first place shawl for record price

FARM SHOW - The
Fancy Flock Flyers claimed
first place in the second
Farm Show Sheep to Shawl
contest, held last Wednesday
evening.
Judges Jean Woodward,
Mount Airy, Md., and
Florence Hall, Keymar,
Md., selected the team’s
buck-grey natural white
shawl as the winner out of
ten entries.
Team captain and weaver
for the Fancy Flock Flyers
was Carol Buskirk,

second Sheep to Shawl Contest. While spectators looked on, sheep were shorn,
wool was carded and spun, and a natural fiber shawl was created the fastest
time just over an hour.

At Farm Show’s Second Sheep to Shawl Contest
Lmglestown. Glenn Seibert,
of Lebanon, provided the
shearing skills, while other
team members, Betsy
Dilger, Lebanon; Jimmie
Hepford, Summerdale; and
Joanne Higgins, Harrisburg,
carded and spun the fleece
into wool yarn. The Flyers
also had the first place shawl
at the Lebanon County
Farm-City Week contest
held last fall.
The team with the fastest
finishing time for taking the
fleece from sheep to shawl
