Ten teams of five members each representing Pennsylvania and Maryland raced against the clock to make a 75-mch long, 22-inch wide and 100 percent wool shawl. The Fancy Flock Flyers came out on top with a time of 83 minutes. Their blue, grey and natural white shawl was a combination of hand dipped and tie dying. Team members included weaver Carol Buskirk of Linglestown, Dauphin County; spinners Dianne Dilger of Lebanon, Lebanon County, Jimmie Hepford of Summerdale, Cumberland County, Joanne Higgins of Harrisburg, Dauphin County, and sheep shearer Glenn Seibert of Lebanon An auction of the top six shawls followed the contest Richard E Brandt, Farm Real Estate of Reading, Berks County, was the successful bidder at a record price of 5260 The team also received $l5O in premiums, a travelling trophy sponsored Carcass lamb, wool winners FARM SHOW - Julie Kuzemchak of Pleasant Gap, Centre County, exhibited the grand champion carcass lamb at the 65th annual Penn sylvania Farm Show. Team members included weaver Dotty Lewis of Lancaster; Phillis Robinson of Lan caster, Connie Rannels of Hershey, Dauphin County; Barb Lynch of Pequea, Lancaster County, and Dave Eckman of Lancaster Audrey Shirk of Lebanon was the successful bidder of this shawl at $l9O. Using a unique original design of slits in the shawl which could be worn three different ways, last year’s winning team, the Penn sylvania Wool Workers, This 126-pound lamb, which weighed in at 66 pounds on rail, placed second both on foot and on-rail in the heavyweight division Champion Acres also showed the champion car cass lamb in the lightweight division, a 102-pounder which weighed 54 pounds on rail Reserve champion honors in the lightweight division went to a 102-pound lamb shown by Joyce Witt of Champion. Her lamb weighed in at 50 pounds on rail.
