The Admissions Office is now accepting applications for the new two-year, associate degree program. According to Joseph Sick, Division Director of the Earth Science Campus, near Allen wood, wood products is a growing industry in the state of Pennsylvania and includes a wide variety of careers Working conditions vary depending on the specific career and on the employer. Some of the types of jobs include outdoor work and some involve travel. The farm is located along the Earhart Road west of Manheim. Nelson’s father held dispersal that year and a number of his cows were purchased for the herd Prior to 1978, they fanned for five years on his grand father’s farm at Pennryn. The numerous steps involved in processing wood, sawmill operations, seasoning lumber and the preservative treatments of wood are also covered. The program provides an in troduction to the process of obtaining, manufacturing, and marketing wood products to produce a profit and a survey of the basic types of machinery used in wood processing. Sick said the Wood the course, according to Robah G. Hess, who has olunteered to organize the program in this area. This program is geared for youngsters 10 to 15 years, but all snowmobilers age 16 and over are invited to take the course. The course consists of three two and one-half hour sessions. The safety training program will be held at Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsmen’s Association beginning Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. There are no charges for the safety course. Snowmobilers and potential snowmobilers may enroll for this safety course by calling 717-786-2853 or by completing forms available at Wenger Implement, at the Buck, phone 717-284-4141. The three dates the course will be held are January 8,15 and 22, 1981, from 6 30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Products Technology program combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning ex periences. Wood products courses will be taught at the Earth Science Campus which has a sawmill, dry kiln, and drying yard. The program also includes a 200- hour internship in the wood products industry, thus providing students with the opportunity of learning on the-job. In August, Steven A Erbach was hired as in structor of the Woods Products Technology program. Since his em ployment, Erbach has been working with Sick on the development of the program The new instructor is a 1978 graduate of the University of New Hamp shire, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. He also has an Associate of Applied Science Degree from WACC in Forest Technology. He was graduated from WACC in 1975. Erbach has ap proximately three and a half years of related trade ex perience.
