Cumberland DHIA cites record-making cows
BOLING SPRINGS -
Cumberland County
dairymen last Thursday
night met and honored a
number of dairymen for
their outstanding dairy
production records.
Paul Strock, R 9,
Mechanicsburg, was
recognized as having the
high herd average in milk
production. Paul’s herd of
121 Registered Holsteins
produced an average of
18,767 pounds of milk.

Butterfat. His 44 Registered
and Grade Holsteins
produced an average of 680
lbs. of Butterfat.
In addition, one of John’s
cows. Ess Creek Vista
Double Gal produced a
record amount of butterfat
this past year. Gal produced
978 pounds of butterfat in the
305 day test period. John was
also recognized as having
the top two-year old record

in fat. Jody’s record as a
two-year old was 769 pounds
offat.

produced 21,074 pounds of
milk.

students attending the 59
Elementary Schools in the
nine school districts in the

Each student in kin
dergarten to fifth grade in
the nine school districts has
an opportunity to hear a
dairyman discuss the im
portsmce of the dairy cow
and the dairy farming for
approximately 25 to 30
minutes. The dairyman
presented the information to
the students in groups of 40
in the school yard standing
near “Martha the Cow ”
