Total sales receipts for the sale was $135,800, with an average sale price of $2,952 for the 46 heifers and cows sold. No bulls were in the sale. Sales manager Alvin Piper, Lake Mills, Wis., said that prices were a little low but it was a good sale. He pointed out that since the Holstein show is an open evnt, not a national show, the Bluegrass Classic corresponded more to a local show than a national one. A special feature at this year’s sale was a drawing for a heifer calf donated by Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards defraymg ex penses for Junior exhibitors to attend the National Holstein Show. The lucky winner was Tammy Twenhafel of Centraba, Illinois.
