Cl6—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 15,1980 4-H holds first sheep roundup LANCASTER - The Lancaster County 4-H Sheep Gub, better known as the Lancaster County Woolies, held their first sheep roundup Saturday at the Wendell Jones Stables. Emerging from the showring with the Supreme Champion Ewe was Gerald Rohrer, 14, of Quanryville. Gerald, a 4-H member for four years, is the son of Bob and Anne Rohrer. The ewe, a Southdown lamb named Veronica, was born in February. Sarah Brubaker, 18, captured the Senior Showmanship title with her ewe named Vicki. Sarah, a member of 4-H for nine years is the daughter of Clyde and Dorothy Brubaker, Lan caster. Sarah’s ewe was also the Champion Hampshire Ewe. Junior Showmanship went to Monica Esh, daughter of David and Ruth Esh of Kenzer. Monica, a 4-H member for two years, won this title with her Hampshire Ewe. Ron Miller of Bedford County was the judge. Miller operates a farm with a flock of 125 ewes in Bedford. Other show results are as follows; Farm Show Market Lambs; 1. Sarah Brubaker 2. Margaret Herr 3. Gerald Rohrer 4. The Lancaster County Market Lambs were sold Tuesday at the Lancaster Stockyards. Hess, 17, sold lus first champion market lamb, a Suffolk, to Walter Dunlap and Sons, Lancaster,for $123.25, at 85 cents a pound The lamb weighed 145 pounds. Hess, a senior at Penn Manor has been in 4-H for six years. Monica Esh walked away with Junior Showmanship honors with her Hampshire Ewe, Misty. Reserve winner John Longenecker sold his lamb, a Crossbreed, for $93.60 at 78 cents a pound to McCoy Cattle Co., Lancaster. Hess’ second lamb sold for 69 cents a pound and weighed 140 pounds. Longenecker’s second lamb sold for 73 cents per pound and weighed 103 pounds. Momca Esh sold her Hampshire lamb, 110 pounds, for 69 cents a pound.
