McMahon is Pa, Granger of Year HARRISBURG - Mary McMahon, Ridgway, Elk County, has been named Pennsylvania’s “Granger of the Year” for 1980, an nounced Charles E. Wismer, Jr., Master of the Penn sylvania State Grange. McMahon has been a Grange member for tiurty years, and has served as the chaplain of Montmorenci Grange, No. 1704, for the last two years. She also served as a Subordinate Lecturer for twelve years. * Active in numerous community organizations, McMahon is on the Elk County Fair Board, she has served as a delegate for Elk County at the Penn State Trustee elections for the past three years, and sings in numerous community choirs. Milk Producers plan district meetings BALTIMORE, MD. - Annual membership meetings, including the nomination of directors, will be held during the coming week in four districts of Maryland Cooperative Milk Producers. The meetings include: District 13 - Wednesday, St. John’s Church of Christ, New Oxford, Pa.; District 12 - Thursday, Boons boro Fire Hall, Boonsboro, Md.; District 11 - Friday, Grant sville Fire Hall, Grantsville, Md.; District 3 - Monday, Nov. 3, Carroll County Agriculture Center, West minster, Md. Maryland Cooperative Milk Producers will hold its District 8 Annual Mem bership 8 Annual Mem bership Meeting, Monday, October 27 at the Kauffman Community Center in Kauffman Station, Pa. The program, to follow a dinner served at 7 p.m., will consist of reports on national and local milk production and the current status of third place honors in the State Grange Community Service Contest. The Granger of the Year Award she received is not the only honor she has won for active service. McMahon recently was named to “Who’s Who Among Women Civic Leaders in America” by the Dupont National Civic Endowment. As a respected member of her community, she is an Associate Director of the Elk County Conservation District, Secretary of the Ridgway Retail Association, and a member of the Elk County Recreation and Tourist Council Board cf Directors, to name a few. McMahon will receive her award at the Annual Grange Sessions, to be held in Lewistown on Tuesday, October 28, at 10 a.m. Honorable mentions in the contest were awarded to Albert Lahew, of Waynesburg, Green County, and Mary Buffington, of Chadds Ford, in Chester County. The 47 member-producers of District 13 will nominate a director to be ratified by the total membership at the cooperative’s annual meeting in March, for a 3- year term from March 1981 through February 1984. Paul R. Waybright of Gettysburg, is the incumbent director whose term expires in February, 1981. District 13 is made up of producers in Adams, Cumberland and Juniata who have produced more than 15 million pounds of milk in 1980 through the month of September. The 50 member-producers of District 12 will nominate a director to be ratified by the total mem bership at the cooperative’s annual meeting m March. Charles H. Stiles of Boon sboro, Md. is the incumbent director whose term expires in February, 1981. District 12 is made up solely of Washington County producers who have produced almost 27 million pounds of milk in 1980 through the month of Sep tember. The 104 member producers of District 11 will nominate a director to be ratified by the total mem bership, too. Bailey Herring of Farmington, Pa. is the incumbent director. District 11 includes Fayette and Somerset Counties in Pennsylvania, Garrett County, Md. and Preston County, W.Va. Members in the area have produced more than 31 million pounds of milk in 1980 through the month of September. Current directors for District 3 are Melvin E. Leppo of Sykesville and Herbert W. Wessel, Jr. of Hampstead. District 3 in cludes 140 member producers located in Carroll County which has more MCMP producers than any other county. In 1980 through September, these producers have produced more than 91 million pounds of milk. The meeting programs, to follow a dinner served at 7 p.m., will consist of reports on national and local milk production and the current status of Holly Milk Plant in Carlisle. In addition, members will be given an update of MCMP’s financial condition, including its operating division, as well as the current status of the long-range planning com missioned at their 1979 Annual Meeting.
