The Minnesota team, coached by Ron Harder, scored 2,433 out of a possible 2,700 points to win over nine other teams in the' 4-H Club/Future Farmers of America competition. In the collegiate livestock judging event, the team from the University of Illinois, coached by Doug recognized with a marker, must have been owned by the same family member for the last 100 years, and a family member must presently live on the land. Also the farm must have at least 10 acres of the original holdings or gross at least $lOOO a year from the sale of agricultural products. Parrett, scored 4,537 out of a possible 5,000 points. In both contests, team members had to individually judge live cattle, sheep and swine and give oral reasons for their placmgs. Their trophies and ribbons were presented October 2 at an awards breakfast hosted by Farm Credit Banks of Baltimore. Their closest competition came from the Ohio 4-H Club which scored 2,403 points. The 4-H team from Maryland was' third with 2,391 points. Other team placmgs in the 4-H/FFA competition were: North Carolina, fourth; Virginia, fifth; Georgia, sixth; Pennsylvania, seventh; Kentucky, eighth; Connecticut, ninth; and Delaware, tenth. Leroy Billman, a member of the Ohio 4-H Club team, scored the highest of any individual in the event with 822 out of a possible 900 points. Dan Kieswetter of the Illinois team, scored the highest of any individual in the event with 937 out of a possible 1,000 points. The second place team in the collegiate judging contest was Ohio State University with 4,513 points and Michigan State University was third with 4,510 points.
